75% of suicides are male, yet men constitute only 20% of those seeking suicide intervention support.
More than 1 in 5 females saw a health professional for their mental health, compared with 1 in 8 males.
To combat this, Men’s Health and Wellbeing WA (MHWWA) want to reach as many men as possible between now and International Men’s Day on the 19th of November with an important message.
partnered with young men and men who care about their mental health to create this campaign. Their stories were central to everything we did - we listened deeply and used their experiences to guide our approach.
“you’re not alone”
Many young men face mental health challenges - help normalise mental health challenges and break the stigma, by sharing your story with friends and seeking professional help if needed.
The Process
This co-design project explored the core desires, challenges, and experiences young men face as they navigate their personal mental health journey.
This collaborative approach allowed for the campaign to speak directly to the issues young men face today, encouraging them to prioritise their mental health and seek support without judgment.
This concept tackles the normalisation of mental health challenges faced by young men. It acknowledges that these struggles might be common, but they shouldn't be dismissed or endured alone. The campaign aims to shift the narrative away from suffering in silence and towards seeking help as a sign of strength and resilience.
